Who We Are

We're not your typical architecture firm - and honestly, that's kinda the point.

Started in Vancouver back when everyone thought fire-resistant design was just about concrete boxes. We proved them wrong. Now we're the go-to studio when you need buildings that don't just survive - they thrive in challenging conditions.

Pyro Surge Studio

Our Story

It started after watching too many news reports about wildfires tearing through communities. We kept thinking - there's gotta be a better way to build. Not just fireproof bunkers, but actual beautiful homes and buildings that can stand up to what nature throws at them.

Fire-Smart Thinking

We've spent years studying how fires move, what materials actually hold up, and how to design spaces that give people real protection without feeling like they're living in a fortress. It's science meets design, and we're kinda obsessed with getting it right.

Green From The Ground Up

Resilient doesn't mean wasteful. Every project we touch has sustainability baked in - from material selection to energy systems. We're talking triple-certified green buildings that also happen to be tough as nails. That's our sweet spot.

The Team

Meet the folks who make it happen

Sarah Chen

Sarah Chen

Principal Architect & Founder

Started this whole thing after grad school. Previously worked on post-fire reconstruction projects across BC. Got tired of rebuilding what could've been saved with better design in the first place.

Marcus Rodriguez

Marcus Rodriguez

Fire Safety Engineer

Former firefighter turned engineer. Brings real-world experience that you can't get from textbooks. If Marcus says it'll work in a fire, you can bet your life on it - because he has.

Aisha Patel

Aisha Patel

Sustainability Director

The conscience of our operation. Makes sure every material choice, every system we spec is actually as green as we claim. Won't let us get away with anything less than legit sustainable design.

James Wu

James Wu

Senior Designer

The guy who makes sure fire-resistant doesn't mean boring. He's got this knack for creating spaces that are both safe and stunning. Clients love his work because it doesn't look like a bunker.

Elena Kowalski

Elena Kowalski

Project Manager

Keeps all the moving parts actually moving. She's the one who turns our wild ideas into actual buildings on time and on budget. Basically, she's the real hero around here.

David Thompson

David Thompson

Building Systems Specialist

Lives and breathes building codes. Knows every fire regulation in BC and then some. If there's a code update, David's already read it three times and figured out how to exceed it.

How We Work

Look, we're not gonna sugarcoat it - designing for fire resistance while keeping things sustainable and beautiful is tough. But that's exactly why we love it.

Every project starts with listening. We wanna know your concerns, your vision, what keeps you up at night. Then we dig into the site - the topography, the vegetation, the prevailing winds, all that stuff that matters when fire season rolls around.

From there, it's a collaboration. We bring the technical know-how and code expertise, but you're part of the design process the whole way. No surprises, no architect ego trips, just honest work.

We test materials, run simulations, and double-check everything with third-party fire consultants. By the time we hand over the keys, you've got a building that's ready for whatever comes its way.
